[tweak] :)

In-game Settings:

First, turn off "Preload all player skins." That just means that it will load every texture in the level and cache it for later.
Only keep this on if you have 1 GB of Ram or more because even though it says 512, it sucks about 700 from your machine, which is bad.
Next put "Dynamic Mesh LOD" down to low.
What this does it super detail things far away which you can't see anyway
(If you are a constant mapper keep this on highest because it will make your maps look like crap)
Next turn off "Decals."
These small tweaks will give you about 5-15 more FPS after leaving a firefight.
Details between lowest and Highest are only about 1-2 frames.
So keep it higher.
Trillinear filtering is bad so turn it off (I gained 10 frames from this without any loss in image quality.)
Next go to your Audio tab in the game settings.
Change it to 3D Audio or Safe mode.
H/W 3D Audio and H/W Audio + EAX can and will suck the life out of your FPS.
It is a very good idea to put it back, even if you have this huge, powerful audio card like a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZX Platinum Pro.

"Reduce Mouse Lag"

I figured, in my graphics cards settings, if i put Max Frames to Render Ahead to 0, and turn VSync off, it fixes it.

10 more frames, and you wont get mouse lag. To get the Max Frames to Render Ahead option you will need "Coolbits."

Go into your graphics cards options and go to More Direct3D and there is the option. (Nvidia Users Only.)
If you have a Logitech MX700 mouse

UT2004.ini Tweaking:

Now let's get down to business with some UT2004.ini tweaks.
First open up your UT2004.ini located in your C:/ProgramFiles/UT2004/System folder.
Now that you are in it hit Ctrl + F. Find is your friend now.
Type in cubemaps. Delete the true in front of it and put false.
Next go back to the top of the .ini and click on the top line.
Press Ctrl + F again and now type in desired.
Two things will be found. "Desiredframrate" and "Desiredrefreshrate." For "Desiredframerate" put 100.
For "Desiredrefreshrate" put what our monitor is set at.
Then go back up to the top and click on the first line again.
Press Ctrl + F and search for "Cachesizemegs." The default is 32 but depending on how much RAM you have it can go way bigger.
(By request of Raffi_B and an Epic crew member, only change it to 64. Do not go any higher.)
Now find Tripile Buffering and set it to true.
This makes gampaly a lot smoother.

If you are running Win2000/XP:

Hit Run and type in Regedit.
Hit Ctrl + F in regedit and uncheck Data and Values, then hit Whole string only and make sure its checked.
Then in the box type in Run.
In the first run folder make sure nothing is there except the top 1 thing that is like default. Do the same find thing again and a new folder should come up with more options.
Delete everything that is in a folder that is bad like firewalls and virus scans.
Only about 3-4 things should be left, depending on you system there might be more but that is just about should be left.
If your computer shuts down or freezes do a hard restart and do this over.
This should help a bit more with performance.
there is also a handy program called EnditAll that totally eleminates every process that can be shut down in the backround.
